Phil Hansen, artistic director of Portland's fearless new music ground-breakers fEARnoMUSIC, teams up with Agnieszka Laska and her elegant, neo-classical troupe of poised and polished corporeal artists, in delivering the premier of yet another addition to her growing repertory of theatrical dance, distinguished by the presence of top-shelf chamber musicians, sharing the stage in live performance. In this outing she takes on one of the all-time heavy weights: J.S. Bach's Suite No. 6 for Violoncello Solo. In Hansen's rendering of the master score, charged with graciously crafted, genuine time-based virtuosity and arching over 30 minutes, lovers of both fine-art music, in the classical concert hall tradition, and elegant modern dance, at its best, can settle in for a richly honest, generously attitude-free, helping of both. Not for the naive or faint of heart -- this is serious stuff -- executed at a level of intensity, honed for the true connoisseur. Rounding out the program is choreographic treatment (by Alison Camp & Taryn Johnson) of a tender Aria by up-and-coming composer, Kevin Puts with Janet Jones at the piano - funded in part by RACC
